A note for students on the wait-list
In consultation with the department, I prioritize some students on the wait list based on need. The priority list is as follows:
- BSCS Majors 3rd Year and higher
- BACS Majors 3rd Year and higher (lower because CS 3240 is required for BSCS, but optional for BACS)
- 4th year CS Minors
- 2nd year CS Majors (BS or BA)
- 3rd year Minors
- 2nd year Minors
- All other students
Be aware that I must act based on what is visible on SIS. As such, if you are still listed as undeclared, I must treat you as “all other students.” I will add as many students as I can by the add deadline. Please check your email regularly, as I will email your UVA address if you are permitted to enroll.
The Course add deadline is Jan 31st. If registered students decide to drop the class, I will immediately fill their spots with students waiting to get in!

Simon Anderson
Simon is a 3rd year CS student. In his free time, he enjoys watching soccer, playing disc golf, and eating ice cream.
Fernando Canales
Fernando is a 4th year majoring in Computer Science. His favorite programming language is Kotlin and is heavily biased against using Python. He enjoys running and watching shows.
Andrew Cornfeld
Andrew is a 3rd year CS student who plans to also pursue a masters in Data Science. He also enjoys watching and supporting UVA sports teams!
Tyler Donovan
Tyler is a 3rd year CS student. He’s been enjoying board games a pickleball recently and is on the board of the Korean Student Association at UVA.
Jonathan Eftink
Johnathan is a 3rd year majoring in Computer Science. His favorite language is Java and finds other languages tolerable at best. He enjoys learning new recipes and is always taking suggestions.
Stephanie Fang
Stephanie is a third year Computer Science major with Economics and Statistics minors. She enjoys drawing, listening to international music, and playing games. Her current interests are artificial intelligence and software development.
Jade Gregoire
Jade is a third year majoring in mathematics and computer science. She enjoys playing video games, drawing, hiking, and cats. Her first programming language was Java, and it is still her favorite.
Yusef Hacking
Yusuf is a 3rd year studying Computer Science and English. He coaches a winless intramural soccer team called Habibis FC and likes playing chess, watching the New York Jets, and listening to Taylor Swift. He thinks the coolest programming language is C++, but is still partial to Java.
Ethan Haller
Ethan is a 3rd year CS student in the engineering school. In his free time, he loves hiking and cooking. He is currently working on a fitness challenge mobile app.
Suhaas Kanneganti
Suhaas is a 3rd year majoring in CS and minoring in Data Science and Astronomy. In his free time, he enjoys playing pickleball, lifting, and watching exciting T.V. shows + Movies. This is his third semester TA’ing SDE!
Shahryar Kiani
Shahryar is a 2nd year majoring in Computer Science. He enjoys exploring new programming languages and is currently playing around with Erlang and Rust, but he still thinks Java is the best language overall.
Jonah Kim
Jonah is a 4th year majoring in Computer Science. He enjoys learning new programming languages and design patterns/structures. Currently, his two favorites are Kotlin and the decorator pattern.
Caroline Koonce
Caroline is a third year majoring in computer science and art history. She loves cats, card games, and calamari. A goal of hers is to win one of The New Yorker’s cartoon caption contests.
Jaeson Martin
Jaeson is a third year Computer Science major. He enjoys playing video games (mainly Valorant these days), watching tv, and spending time with his friends.
Shreyas Mayya
Shreyas is a second year majoring in computer science. He enjoys reading random Wikipedia articles and singing along to Taylor Swift in the car. Fun fact: he grew up on the site of a former prison!
Charlotte Miller
Charlotte is a 3rd year majoring in Computer Science and Math. She likes reading, playing video games, and her cats. Her favorite programming language is Java.
Thomas Nguyen
Wright Quist
Wright is a 3rd year engineering student majoring in CS and Studio Art with a concentration in printmaking who, outside of school, has recently been trying to relearn the piano and learn C# for Unity
Kevin Sandoval
Kevin is a third year majoring in computer science. He enjoys videogames, chess, and volunteering. His favorite programming language is C.
Robert Sun
Robert is a 3rd year CS student. He loves reading, salsa-ing, watching tv, and getting boba. His favorite language is Python, with Dart as a close second.
Grant Sweeney
Grant is a 3rd year CS and Economics Students. He enjoys playing and watching most sports. His favorite language right now is C#.
Carla Tabet
Carla is a 3rd year majoring in Computer Science and Math. She loves cats, music, and hiking. A fun fact is that Carla can speak German.
Jennifer Vo
Jennifer is a 3rd year CS student. She enjoys playing volleyball, getting sushi, and doing the NYT daily mini crossword puzzle.
Omar Zeineddine
Omar is a third year majoring in computer science and minoring in data science. He likes playing basketball, tennis, pickleball, and rock climbing. A fun fact about him is that he can speak Arabic.
